Animate Objects

Review By Marilyn Delfaco

Animate Objects bring life and a breath of fresh air to the genre of modern hip-hop. The Chicago born experimental hip-hop ensemble combines DJ's and live instruments with EMCEES spitting clever lyrics. Their style is anything but generic... Animate Objects produce an eclectic sound that is a fusion of jazz-inspired hip-hop beats and soulful melodies, layered under smooth voices reciting lyrical poetry and intense rhymes. This group of talented musicians and poets brings something truly different and special to the plate.

Their first release, “Riding in Fast Cars with Your Momma” has gotten rave reviews from critics and fans as well. With 12 tracks ranging from the soulful “Beautiful”, with its melodic strings and soft keyboard to the more gritty rhymes and rock influence of “Midnight Blue”, this album defies genres by combining many different musical stylings into a cohesive whole. Not only is each musician an extraordinary talent, the album maintains a positive message throughout. Each track is in its own way unique and adds something special to the album... you won't be disappointed.

The real treat is their live performance, and if you are lucky you can catch them at the Atlantis Music Conference in Atlanta, Georgia... September 19-22 2007.
